Light Trail

6.4 km | 290 m of vertical climb

Altitude Profile

Date & Time

August 16th, 2020 | Start time: 10 am

There will be two refreshment zones at the course: at km 3 and at km 4.6. Please note that you are not allowed to take the cups you get there outside the aid stations. At the finish area there will be further catering.

You do not have to wear trail running shoes, however it is highly recommended to do so. It can get very slippery and muddy, especially after a rain. We have already done this course many many times and we vouch that it is simply more fun and also safer to do it with trail running shoes.

Award ceremony with small trophies for the top 3 females and top 3 males of each age group (U20, AG20, AG30, AG40, AG50, O60) and trophies for the 3 fastest women and men.

Participation limit

The whole event is limited to 550 participants.

Everybody from the age of 12 is eligible – no association membership needed. Minors need to show a written declaration of consent signed by their parents or legal guardian. If you’re younger than 14 you need to run with an attendant.

The Light Trail will be part of the “Viennese Running Cup”!

The 6.4 km course includes 290 m of vertical climb and only 13% paved road. It starts on Cobenzl and travels to Höhenstraße via Landgut Cobenzl and the restaurant Waldgrill. We cross Höhenstraße, run downhill toward Sieveringer Straße, and then we are looking forward to a demanding climb toward Agnesbrünnl, where the first refreshment zone will be (km 3).

We continue by taking a steep hiking trail towards Hermannskogel (a unique view over Vienna included, if we wanted to take some time to stop for a few minutes). From Hermannskogel, the course leads down and back to Agnesbrünnl, where the the second refreshment zone will be (km 4.6).

After going up and down again we will soon reach Kreuzeiche. There the Light and Classic Trails separate. The Light runners then face the last one hundred meters after having completed 6.4 km and 290 meters of vertical climb, before arriving happily at the finish line, accompanied by the cheers of the crowd.
