There will be three refreshment zones at the course: at km 3, km 4.6 and km 9. Please note that you are not allowed to take the cups you get there outside the aid stations. At the finish area there will be further catering.
You do not have to wear trail running shoes, however it is highly recommended to do so. It can get very slippery and muddy, especially after a rain. We have already done this course many many times and we vouch that it is simply more fun and also safer to do it with trail running shoes.
Award ceremony with winner’s certificate for the top 3 females and top 3 males of each age group (U20, AG20, AG30, AG40, AG50, O60) and trophies for the 3 fastest women and men.
The whole event is limited to 550 participants.
Everybody from the age of 12 is eligible – no association membership needed. Minors need to show a written declaration of consent signed by their parents or legal guardian. If you’re younger than 14 you need to run with an attendant.
The Classic Trail will be part of the “Viennese Running Cup” and “Austrian Speed Trail cup”!
The 14.0 km course includes 590 m of vertical climb and only 13 % paved road. It starts at Cobenzl and travels to Höhenstraße via Landgut Cobenzl and the restaurant Waldgrill. We cross Höhenstraße, run downhill toward Sieveringer Straße, and then we are looking forward to a demanding climb toward Agnesbrünnl, where the first refreshment zone will be (km 3).
We continue by taking a steep hiking trail towards Hermannskogel (a unique view over Vienna included, if we wanted to take some time to stop for a few minutes). From Hermannskogel, the course leads down and back to Agnesbrünnl, where the the second refreshment zone will be (km 4.6). After going up and down again we will soon reach Kreuzeiche. There the Light and Classic Trails separate.
While the Light runners face their last meters, we will go up to Schönstatt via the MTB-Course Kahlenbergerdorf to Höhenstraße. After a few hundred meters there is another refreshment zone (km 9) at Kahlenberg-Parking area. There we can get enough energy for the rest of the course. The course now leads to Krapfenwaldbad via Stefaniewarte and Wildgrube. At Krapfenwaldbad there is another climb to Höhenstraße. We then go below Höhenstraße, across a big meadow and are able to see the finish from there. Just two kilometers left – we promise!
After crossing the meadow, we pass Kreuzeiche, which we already saw before. The finish line is only a few hundred meters in front of us. We feel exhausted, but are very happy when we reach the finish after 14.0 km and 590 meters of vertical climb. Now we are ready to enjoy the cheers of the crowd.
